Every Singaporean has had steamboat at some point in his life but Tsukada Nojo’s Beauty Collagen Hot Pot is a one-of-a-kind and delectable dish which will make one wish he had tasted it sooner.
The Beauty Collagen Hot Pot, known as Bijin Nabe, is a chicken soup dish that is packed with Golden Collagen Chicken Stock. As collagen is known to be great for repairing the skin and preserving youth, the Bijin Nabe is probably akin to a delectable version of a beauty elixir.
The First Look
First, customers will be served with a jelly-looking substance. This is actually the soup base with chicken pieces underneath. With heat and time, the soup base will eventually dissolve. Customers are then advised to take a sip of the soup on its own first, and then with the chicken once it is cooked. Next, the waitress would add the vegetables, pork meatballs and seafood, followed by the noodles. Finally, after finishing the soup, you will be served a complimentary herbal jelly that can cleanse your palette.

Customers can select their own choice of noodles (there are 3 choices: thin egg noodle, thick mochi-mochi noodles or rice noodle) and add other side dishes if they wish, but the Bijin Nabe was enough to fill us up.
The Verdict
Overall, the Bijin Nabe excels in its complexity and the exquisiteness of the taste. While chicken soup is a common soup base, this Collagen Chicken Stock is unique in its umami taste. You’ll probably never find a stock like this anywhere else. It made the soup taste unique and incredibly addictive, leaving us craving for more. The ingredients were fresh, mostly lean, and definitely complemented the richness of the soup. Its warmth makes it suitable for a cold or rainy day.
Moreover, the service was very efficient and the waitresses were friendly and knowledgeable about the ingredients. In fact, the waitresses were very welcoming and accommodating to customers with young children.
Also, the layout of the restaurant is definitely cosy and not cramp or overcrowded. The lighting, especially, is strategically fixated above the stove so that you can snap an insta-worthy photo! It was definitely a pleasant experience.
However, if you’re curious to try this tasty soup, try to reach the restaurant before 6.00 p.m. because that’s when the queue starts. Do expect the waiting time to be at least 1 hour or so! Trust me, you probably won’t go hungry after 8.30 p.m. because the soup is really filling.
Note: Bijin Nabe is only served after 5.00 p.m. on weekdays and weekends.
