Back To School Essentials

It’s almost halfway through the term! Have you settled into the new semester yet? If you haven’t, here’s a list of things you might need to survive the semester. From coffee to monthly planners, how ready are you to tackle the next 4 months?
1. Coffee. Lots of coffee.

To all the poor souls who have five 8AM days, this one’s specially for you. By now, you should know how university has made most of us (very) dependent on coffee to survive the day.
Arm yourself with a cup of coffee in the morning to make sure you don’t drift into your dreams. It could be a terrible nightmare if you realise you’ve been sleeping through all the lectures at the end of the semester.
2. Water
As much as a dose of caffeine helps you to stay awake, water is more important. You would know by now that the brain consists of 75 per cent water. Though drinking water alone will not get us into the Dean’s list, it’s still an essential part to ensure that our minds function during lessons.
3. Highlighter

I don’t need to tell you what this is for. As we are slowly drowning in our readings, it’d be best to highlight important sections of our notes to ease our revision. The problem is, what if everything is important?
4. Umbrella
The weather here is always too hot or too cold, but either way you could benefit from bringing an umbrella to school. It comes in handy when you’re trying to take the shortcut and there are NO shelters around.
5. Monthly planner

You’ll definitely need on of this to mark deadlines and examination dates. I don’t know about you, but I prefer to get a monthly planner and have an overview of busy the month will be - and how much the assignments and deadlines will consume your time, and your soul.
6. Snacks

I once went to lecture without breakfast, and my stomach decided to have a band concert. I was pretty sure the entire row of students heard the rumbling, but I pretended that nothing happened and continued taking down notes. It was the most embarrassing day of my university life so far.
To save yourself from such situations, please bring snacks to class. Who knows, your friends may need it too.
7. Chargers - to recharge your soul
Just kidding. I’m being serious here, you would not want to dismiss a charger’s importance. Since most of us take notes (and use WebWhatsapp) on our laptops, the worst thing that could happen is for the laptop to run out of battery before we save any of our work.
Though it’s already halfway through the term, it’s still not too late to start bringing these essentials to school! Now that you have this guide, let’s take on the new semester!
